·    First of all never go shopping hungry.  Whether for a few items or a whole list,  You will over-shop or buy more or on impulse buy items that not you planned to buy.  Take a few minutes and eat something or drink 2 glasses of water.  This will relieve the hunger impulse.
·    Next it is important to plan.  See the 2 planning lists below.
·    Buy produce in season or on store specials.
·    Make your shopping list in the order going through the store.  This will save time and if you wonder through the store looking - its guaranteed that you will buy more.  Yes. more time in the market translates to more in the shopping cart.
·    If you clip coupons, go through them at home.  You will have them ready when checking-out.
·    Review the stores weekly ads while making your menu plan.  Every major supermarket has them on-line for your area.  Just enter the store name in a Google search.  When your supermarket home page comes up - select locations and then select weekly ad.  When on this website select "bookmark this page" in your browser.  This make it easy next time to see thehttp://www.parsippanyfocus.com ads.
·    Consider store brands - try one if it is good next time buy several.  Some are filled by different suppliers, so try to buy from the same batch.
·    Check your receipts - was it scanned.  If scanned at wrong price, you may get it free.

Plan 1 -
·    Make a meal menu plan.  To begin keep it simple as to the main course for a week.  This will be a guide to what you need to buy to complete this plan.
·    When making some dishes like lasagna, plan on making a double recipe.  When cooked, put the one-half in the freezer.  This will make a quick backup meal.  There are other dishes that can be frozen and ready in minutes.

Plan 2 -
Make shopping list of commonly used items on your computer.  Cut and paste them in the order that you would find them in the store.  Print it and put it on the side of the refrigerator with a magnet.  Have a highlighter handy (like on a string).  When you find you need something, highlight it on the list.  Now shop those highlighted items.

To assist there is a list of some shopping list forms and a menu form for you to download for your use.  Just select them from the left sidebar.
