Bible Primer

Before approaching any Bible verse (including the ones you hear in church), you should pray to the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance in truly hearing the word of the Lord. When we study the Bible, we do it with the grace and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  We pray that this opening of our hearts and minds will bring peace, grace, and knowledge to us and greater glory to the Father.

The Bible studies under this  project are short, but we pray they are meaningful.  As Bible study can seem to be an enormous undertaking, this project presents a Bible primer.  There are specifically chosen on two merits.  The first is that both the chosen books and chapters contain the words spoken by Jesus himself.  The second that if followed contains all the essential life guidelines.  First to be developed was based on John Chapters 14 to 17.  This is where Jesus is giving final instructions to His disciples (and to you and me) after the last supper and before His arrest in the garden.  The other, Matthew Chapters 5 to 7, is the worlds greatest sermon delivered by the Lord himself.  .

Now there are many translations of these chapters.  Examining each translation and comparing leaves the choice of words.  Let us not get trapped in that controversy.  Even more so is the language itself.  English suffers in depth and beauty in the word "love".  Greek has many different words to describe types of love.  Arabic has few words to describe emotions.  The true meaning we are to get from these chapters is called communication.  Communication is the transfer of an exact idea from one being to another.  The Holy Spirit is the "translator" of the words read or heard into the true thought from God.  Jesus has told us often that the "learned" hear but do not understand.

These two sections of the Bible are included here on this website to begin studying the Bible.  If you wish to be in a group to help and assist, we have established teleconferencing sessions.  The studies are open to all ages and we will give preference to the homebound (for any reason). For more information or to sign up, contact info@FaithBibleStudy.org or call 732-814-6581.

The goal of this project is to help you be in the kingdom of heaven here on earth and that you are full of joy as Jesus promises.  We ask for your prayers that this project be another step in praise and thanksgiving.

At the end of our lives we should be able to say:

·    I glorified you on the earth
·    I have accomplished the work which you have given me to do.
·    I prayed for all your children
·    I have given them your word
·    I have made known to them your name
·    I have read your book and followed your instructions
