Passover

When we study the Bible, we learn many things.  The main idea is that God really does have a plan and there are many connections throughout.  Let us examine just a little piece as the Passover.

The original Passover was the tenth plague on Egypt to free God's people from slavery.  The ritual was to prepare for the "passing over" of the angel of death and to make haste and travel light.

The Passover as a rememberance (as dictated bt God) was each year with the ending being the Bread of Forgiveness and the libation of Salvation.  This told the Hebrews what was coming.

In the ritual performed by all Jews each year, there are a number of wine libations and a number of different foods to be eaten as rememberance.  At the preparation, a cup of wine is set aside for the last libation and it is called the salvation and a last unleavened bread is for forgiveness.

On the final Passover celebrated by Jesus, He used the Bread of Forgiveness and gave saying "Take and eat this is my body given for you".  He then took the final libation of Salvation, gave it saying, "This is blood shed for you".  He was now telling us that He was the true Passover that we would now be saved from not Earthly death, but eternal death.  We are now free from the slavery of sin and death just as the Hebrews were freed from the Egyptians.

Now reading all the details of Exodus, we learn to see that it all fits as a magnificent plan.  The more we read and study, the more it comes together.

May the Lord, our Father, instill the Holy Spirit in each of us so that we might learn more of His plans for us and that we become willing hands to do His will.  In  Jesus name and His assurance that you will do this, we ask as your child.  Amen
