The last
step of any battle is surrender. As we battle the world, we keep
fighting to the end. Only then do we turn to the
Lord. We
surrender to Him.
There are so
many examples of this. The best that I can remember is from
an
article in the Readers Digest. It was an article written by a
mother whose child was brutally murdered and how she finally found
peace by forgiving the murderer. They anguished and suffered and could
find no peace. After a long time, they finally surrendered to
the
Lord and was able to forgive the murderer. The
article as I said was on forgiveness and how the author finally found
it and the wondrous feeling that happened after. That is why this example was chosen.
Don't we all
have empathy for this person? I do. I can't imagine
having
to forgive the murderer of one of my children. I only pray
that
if it happens, that God will give me the strength to do it.
There is an article on this web site on forgiveness
and prayerfully we try to follow it. Small things are much
easier to
forgive, but some are so big that they seem to overwhelm us and hang
on.
Surrender
need not be the end of the battle. We can surrender every
morning
to the Lord. In our waking prayer, we thank the Lord for His
gift
of the day and ask for the power and strength to do His will all day
long.
I pray to
the Father to give you the courage to surrender to Him each day so that
you may have the blessing, forgiveness, and peace that only He can
give. In Jesus name, let it be done. Amen
